Pilon Rd. was a categorically unique project. The home was originally built in 1980 and hadn’t been touched since then. Attractive lines and a well-built structure determined the decision to renovate rather than build new. We took inspiration from the existing style, stripping the structure back to its bones to reveal a west coast, modern home. We removed all the finishes and updated it with fresh contemporary materials. By removing multiple walls we created an open-concept living space. We removed a front hall closet to gain views of the staircase, crafting a much more welcoming entrance. The kitchen wall was removed to join cooking, eating and living spaces as one. We also transformed the north wing of the house from a two bedroom, one bath into an impressive, open master-suite complete with den.
With an addition of many windows and glass doors we took advantage of the ocean views and let more light into the structure. The exterior was updated with fresh paint and a new cedar plank deck. Modern glass railings were installed to retain the views and keep in line with the renewed, modern look of the home.
